land degradation IELTS TASK 1

The pie chart and the table illustrate illustrates the  causes of land degradation in 1990s by globally and the table shows the proportions of land degradation regionally in the 1990s.. Overall, it shows that  there were are three main factors of land degradation which were are over-grazing, over-cultivation and deforestation.

Globally, about 90% of land degradation was is caused by these three main factors. The highest proportion of land degradation was is caused by over-grazing at 35%, followed by deforestation at 30% and over-cultivation at 28%. The other factors on the other hand, contributed only about 7% of the total degradation.

The table indicates causes of land degradation in three regions in the 1990s.. The highest total degradation was recorded by Europe (23%), followed by Oceania (13%) and the least total degradation was marked in North America (5%).

Compared to other regions, Europe had the highest land degradation caused by deforestation at 9.8% and over-cultivation and over-grazing at 7.7% and 5.5% respectively. While, Oceania had the highest percentage of land degraded by over-grazing at 11.3%, followed by deforestation at 1.7%, however, there was no impact of over-cultivation in Oceania.. North America on the other hand, recorded lowest percentage 3.3%, 1.5% and 0.2% of land degradation in all the causes listed. due to over-cultivation, over-grazing and deforestation respectively.

The diagram shows a process of searching for new suppliers. Generally, the suppliers are asked for quotation of their products and the company decides based on the suppliers’ offers.

The process starts when a the managing director requires reducing cost of certain supplies. The purchasing department then makes up new detail requirements of the supplies. Then the requirement is sent to a range of potential suppliers including the previous suppliers, and they are asked for quotation of their supplies and informed that they are competing with each other for the contract.

Once the company receives the quotation from the suppliers, the purchasing department decides a shortlist of the best suppliers. The department than thencontact the shortlisted suppliers for confirmation of their offers. Then they held meetings to further discuss the agreement.

Finally, the company decides the best suppliers which who best suits their requirement. Once all the details are agreed, a new contract(s) is then signed by both parties.

Acid rain process, IELTS TASK 1, band 6.5

The diagram illustrates the acid rain process that has caused pollution in the environment and in the food chain. Generally, the polluters produce harmful gaseous gases that rise and form polluted clouds. Eventually the clouds release acid rain and pollute the environment.

The harmful gaseous gases are released from three main areas which are housing, factories, and power stations and also from vehicles used in everywhere. The smoke produced by the polluters contains carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, mercury and other dangerous substances. These compounds go up and collectively form polluted clouds.

The polluted clouds then travel across the states and regions and release its contents wherever they stop. It is concerning that they are contained with toxic chemicals that are highly malicious to plants, animals and humans.

As the acid rain is poured pours on earth it poisoning poisons the plants and water reservoir reservoirs like rivers and lakes. Eventually, the pollutants enter the food chain  and as the polluted plants and water are consumed by animals and humans, causing they are affected with severe health effects on them problems.

Human limit, IELTS TASK 2, band 6.5 or 7

The advent of science has allowed tremendous breakthroughs to be achieved which have benefited the entire human kind. Despite that, it still seems insufficient that many people are still trying to achieve other things that are beyond our comprehensive comprehension. I believe that there is always limit for everything including human capabilities and knowledge that we should not cross that of as the consequences can be unbearable.

I think, the most controversial issue that human try to grasp is cloning. It is just inhumane trying to be god by creating living beings. The first cloned sheep, Dolly for instance took years before it was succeeded achieved, and in between many defected sheep were produced and their fate is fairly unknown. Even Dolly had to suffer to some extend extent as she was infertile and lived quite a short life span. Imagine if human cloning is a success, than then many ‘humans’ would be produced with no status, no parents, and no family institution and not least how most important, what about the defected beings that would have to be ceased killed. This could be a huge disaster.

What is more, current findings have produced enormous genetic many genetically modified organisms including in our food products. Even though they claim that these products are proven beneficial as the inserted genes give better traits of the for a good harvest but still the long term effects are still unclear. Some people have claimed that consuming GM products has caused allergic reactions and some have experienced other diseases including cancer.

Based on these reasons, I believe that we should not interfere with nature as the aftermath could be catastrophe. This does not mean that we should not try to understand or develop anything new, it simply means we should not attempt to go too far.
