The charts represents the number of female students over
100 male students in developing and developed countries
at three education levels. It can be clearly seen that the figures for developed countries
were much higher than the developing countries.
Looking at the details, both developed and
developing countries saw a rise in figure from 1990 to 2000 in each of the
three school stages. Though, theThe figure for developing countries saw a decrease in
number at higher stages of which were 83(1990) -87(2000), 72(1990)-82(2000),
and 66(1990)-75(2000) in primary, secondary and tertiary schools respectively.
In contrary, the developed countries
noted an increase in figure at
higher school levels of 93(1990) -96 (2000), 98 (1990) -99 (2000), and 105
(1990) -112 (2000) in primary, secondary and tertiary schools respectively.
Other point to note, the figure for tertiary education in
developed countries hit the 2005 target of getting 100 girls in every 100 boys,
of which were 105 in 1990 and 112 in 2000.
All in all, the developing countries had lower figure than
the developed countries.
The figure for developing countries was also
lesser in higher stages while developed countries
saw the opposite.
