passenger transports IELTS task 2, band 6.5, line graph

The graph represents passenger transports in the Great Britain for 50 year-period from 1952 to 2002. It is obviously apparent that cars were the most popular transport of all.

Looking at the details, in the first year (1952), buses and coaches were the most common means for traveling of about 100 billion passenger kilometers but then. However, the figure saw a steady decrease approaching the figure for rail until both plugged in and reached a plateau in 2002 at about 70 billion passenger kilometers. On the other hand, the figure for rail was the lowest  at  about 30-40 billion kilometers for about 30 years and then  it gradually increased and reached the same figure as busses and coaches.

Meanwhile, the  figure for cars started only at about 70 billion kilometers in 1952 and was the second popular mode by that time but then saw a significant rise. The figure reached the highest of all and maintained so since 1962 at 100 billion kilometers. The figure then had double up doubled in every 10 years and until in 1992 the increasing startand then the increase started to stabilize  and reached 650 billion kilometers in 2002..

Overall, we can see that over the decades cars showed a significant increase, while the figure for other transports were maintained under 100 billion kilometers.
