The charts represent the marital status of populations in Australia and Canada in 1999 and 2000 respectively.
It is obviously apparent that both countries had highest married individuals.
Looking at the details, both countries had the highest and
the second highest proportion in married and single status respectively.
Despite that, Australia actually had higher proportion of people who married
(53%) than those in Canada (41%). On contrary, Canada also had higher
proportion of single persons (46%) than those in Australia (29%).
Other point to consider is that the proportions of divorced
and widowed persons in each countries country were actually about the same; at 7% in Australia and 5-6% in
Canada. Both countries also had similar proportions of about
2% to 3% of individuals who were separated
but still married. In addition, Australia also recorded 1% of same sex marriage
whereas Canada did not have any record on that.
Overall, we could see that, both countries noted quite
similar ranking according to their marital status except that Canada did not
have same sex marriage individuals.
